Pioneers realigning to the USL Premier Development League (PDL)
The PDL is the top amateur league in North America. "Many of today's MLS players come out of the PDL. This will give our fans the opportunity to see tomorrow’s stars today," says general manager Greg Kolodziey.
The best players in the PDL often enter the MLS SuperDraft to realize their dreams of playing professional soccer following their collegiate careers. In January, 48 PDL players were selected in the draft by MLS clubs.
The Pioneers will compete in the Northeast division, in the Eastern Conference. They will face old foes such as the Long Island Rough Riders, the Vermont Voltage, and arch rivals the New Hampshire Phantoms. The other teams in the division are Albany (NY), Brooklyn Knights, Ottawa Fury, MPS Portland Phoenix, and the Westchester Flames
